Day 2 - Gangnam

Thursday, November 20th, 2025

This morning started unexpectedly slow as my knee was rather painful and I wanted to have it checked out by a medical professional, as I had never had knee issues before.  Long story short, we found Yonsei University Hospital only a few hundred metres up the road (one bus stop ride when you have a sore knee) and a visit to Yonsei Healing Rehabilitation Clinic.  Within minutes I was seen by a Doctor who is expert in our joints and spoke English, whisked away for x-rays on both knees, a prompt diagnosis, moments later physiotherapy (including with microwaves and electric pulse therapy) and a prescription for medicine plus a knee support bandage.  Unbelievable service for $94.  Prayers are answered!!

By lunchtime I was mobile (pain killer patch and medicine assisted) and we met up with a choice work colleague who also happened to be in Seoul, Harry Kim and his daughter Clara.

In transit on the clean, modern subway to Gangnam.

At the famous Starfield Library spectacularly decorated for Christmas.

The popular Gangnam Style statue.

A delicious traditional Korean royal meal with Harry, Coco and Clara!

A vibrant and colourful part of Seoul, Gangnam never sleeps it appears.  And after 10500 steps today, my knee feels fine and I should be able to enjoy the remainder of our Korea trip.

But to avoid stairs, we caught a clean, modern electric bus home from the centre of Gangnam to our apartment next to Seoul Station for $1.50.  Such an impressive public transport system . . .
