Day 13 - Busan, BIFF Square & Blue Line Park

Monday December 1st, 2025

This morning we caught the bus for one hour to the other side of Busan to go to the main Busan Station and purchase our KTX tickets for Thursday. The KTX is the high speed train which links many cities throughout Korea and on Thursday we will be leaving Gyeongju and heading to Seoul for our final night in Korea. On the KTX the trip will take just over two hours and the trains can sell out ahead of time, so purchasing the tickets in advance made sense. Each seat cost KRW 49,300 which is around AUD 53, so a reasonable price to travel in comfort and fast.

You see a lot of the "Busan is good" signs throughout the city, including on buses.

After buying the tickets we went a little further and visited BIFF Street, where BIFF stands for "Busan International Film Festival". This is an area full of theatres and also street vendors and many market streets. We went to buy some ties, as recommended by the missionaries at Church yesterday. Some of these ties are gifts, so no photos here, but we spent a few hours exploring the area and having some tasty food (as usual!).

We returned to the apartment to drop off our shopping before heading to the northern end of Haeundae where the Blue Line park is. This is the beginning of a long coastal walk which also has a train and a small, elevated capsule train line as well. We walked for a while, enjoying the night scenes and smell of salt water, before grabbing some tasty poke bowls for dinner.

Tomorrow morning we leave Busan, heading to Gyeongju by bus where we will spend two nights. Gyeongju is a historic area where the recent APEC meeting was held.

12,786 steps today.
